Start ‘Em

Austin Collie– WR – IND (@DEN) – With Pierre Garcon sidelined with a hamstring injury, the door should be open for Collie to explode in Week 3.  The Broncos top-2 cornerbacks are both questionable, and Collie will be an every-down player this week.  Double-digit receptions is a distinct possibility.

Pierre Thomas – RB – NO (vs. ATL) – With Reggie Bush out and Chris Ivory still dealing with a knee injury, the Saints backfield belongs completely to Thomas.  Couple that with the fact he’ll be on the fast-track at the Superdome, and Thomas is in line for a huge week, especially in PPR leagues.

Steve Smith – WR – NYG (vs. TEN) – Like Garcon, Smith has been quiet so far this season, but we like him this week in a matchup against the Titans.  Top CB Cortland Finnegan should shadow Hakeem Nicks, leaving the Titans’ trio of young CB’s Jason McCourty, Ryan Mouton, and Alterraun Verner to square off against Smith.  Advantage: Smith.

Fred Taylor – RB – NE (vs. BUF)We’re kind of going out on a limb here, as the Patriots backfield is one of the most unpredictable situations in the NFL.  We’d normally advise to stay away from the situation, but with Kevin Faulk out with a knee injury and Laurence Maroney gone, the Patriots over-crowded backfield is down to just three.  We like Taylor here, but only as a flex play, due to the nature of the Pats’ tendencies.

Demaryius Thomas – WR – DEN (vs. IND)Thomas burst onto the scene in Week 2, with eight catches for 97 yards and a TD.  He figures to be the focal point of the Broncos’ passing game for the rest of the season, and as we have seen in Josh McDaniels’ offense, that means A LOT of targets.  As long as he remains healthy, Thomas could be a top-20 WR the rest of the way.

Visanthe Shiancoe – TE – MIN (vs. DET)Shiancoe has been Brett Favre’s top target the first two weeks of the season, and with Percy Harvin banged up, we don’t see that changing in Week 3.  Shiancoe should have no problem with the Lions’ leaky back-end.

Brent Celek – TE – PHI (@JAX)Celek is another player who has been quiet the first two weeks of 2010, but he should have a nice game against Jacksonville’s mediocre pass-defense.  Of greater concern however, is the effect of Kevin Kolb’s benching on Celek’s long-term value.  Kolb often looked to Celek in the passing game, time will tell if Michael Vick will do the same.

Sit ‘Em

Larry Fitzgerald – WR – ARI (vs. OAK)Nnamdi Asomugha + Derek Anderson = Not Good for Larry Fitzgerald.  Although we’d find it tough to actually take Fitz out of lineups, don’t expect a lot of production this week.

Jahvid Best – RB – DET (@MIN)Best exploded last week against Philadelphia, but he figures to find little running room against the Williams Wall on Sunday.  He’ll probably get his yardage in the passing game, but don’t expect a repeat of his monster fantasy day from Week 2.

Donald Brown – RB – IND (@DEN)Don’t be fooled by Brown’s increased production in Week 2.  The Colts ran the ball an abnormally high number of times and Brown was still out-produced by fellow RB Joseph Addai.  The Colts figure to attack the Broncos through the air with their secondary hurting, so don’t expect to see a lot of Brown, who struggles in pass protection.

Mohamed Massaquoi – WR – CLE (@BAL)Maybe Massaquoi can rack-up some numbers during garbage time in this one, but with Seneca Wallace likely to start for a second-straight week, we don’t like Massaquoi on the road against a dominant Ravens’ defense.

Thomas Jones – RB – KC (vs. SF)Despite Jones being the featured back so far over the ultra-talented Jamaal Charles, we don’t like him this week against a stellar 49ers defense that held Pierre Thomas under 50 yards rushing in Week 2.  Charles figures to be heavily involved in this one, especially if the Chiefs fall behind early.

Devin Aromashodu – WR – CHI (vs. GB)Aromashodu was benched during Week 2, losing his third receiver role to Earl Bennett, while seeing just one offensive snap.  He should re-emerge at some point during the season, but for now he’s in Lovie Smith’s doghouse.
