Week 11 Fantasy Picks
Start ‘Em
Mario Manningham – WR – NYG (@PHI) – Manningham will be matched up against Eagles’ CB Dmitri Patterson, a matchup that heavily favors Manningham. Especially in PPR leagues, look for Manningham to have a big week filling in for Steve Smith again.
Aaron Rodgers – QB – GB (@MIN) – Look for the Packers to come out firing after their bye week as they try to put the dagger into the Vikings season. In what will almost certainly be the last ever matchup between mentor (Brett Favre) and pupil (Rodgers), look for Rodgers to prove the Packers made the right decision in letting Brett move on.
Randy Moss – WR – TEN (vs. WSH) – After getting embarrassed Monday night against Philadelphia, Redskins’ CB DeAngelo Hall gets another tough assignment in Randy Moss this week. With a full week of practice with Vince Young, look for better chemistry between Moss and his quarterback this week.
Dez Bryant – WR – DAL (vs. DET) – We’re not abandoning the hype-train now with Detroit coming into town this week. Bryant has been unstoppable the past few weeks, and we look for that to continue against the Lions.
Peyton Hillis – RB – CLE (@JAX) – Hillis has been unbelievable this season, running hard downhill in Cleveland’s power rushing attack. Jacksonville should provide no match for the
Browns’ physicality this week.
Dwayne Bowe – WR – KC (vs. ARI) – Cardinals’ CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has been one of the most beleaguered starting cornerbacks in the NFL this season. Coming off a game in which he surrendered 11 catches and 145 yards to Big Mike Williams from Seattle, Rodgers-Cromartie figures to struggle to contain Bowe, who has come on strong during the middle of the season.
Santonio Holmes – WR – NYJ (vs. HOU) – Speaking of beleaguered cornerbacks, the Jets duo of Holmes and Braylon Edwards get their crack at Texans’ rookie-CB Kareem Jackson this week. Jackson has been one of the worst starting corners in the league this season, the only question is, who will have a bigger day, Holmes or Edwards? We like the both, but we’ll go with Holmes.
Sit ‘Em
Johnny Knox – WR – CHI (@MIA) – Knox will likely be matched up with Dolphins emerging-star CB Vontae Davis in this one, meaning Jay Cutler will likely look to his secondary options in the passing game. We’d sit Knox this week despite coming off a 90-yard performance against Minnesota last week.
Matt Schaub – QB – HOU (@NYJ) – While it is difficult to bench Schaub in most leagues, he figures to have a tough time on the road against a stingy Jets secondary. Darrelle Revis will likely shadow Andre Johnson, forcing Schaub to look closer at secondary options. With Owen Daniels (hamstring) out of the picture, Schuab’s list of secondary options is dwindling, however.
Mike Goodson – RB – CAR (vs. BAL) – Goodson will likely get another full compliment of snaps with DeAngelo Williams headed to injured reserve and Jonathan Stewart (concussion) iffy at best to play Sunday. The problem is, he’ll be going up against a tough Baltimore defense and will likely have a banged-up Jimmy Clausen (concussion) or a raw Tony Pike at quarterback. Goodson may be worth a flex play in PPR leagues, but don’t expect another 100-yard performance this week.
Lee Evans – WR – BUF (@CIN) – Evans should draw Bengals’ shut-down corner Leon Hall in coverage this week, which is bad news for Evans. We have a difficult time envisioning the Bills’ receivers doing anything this week after Cincinnati kept Colts’ receivers Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon quiet last week.
Jermaine Gresham – TE – CIN (vs. BUF) – Gresham has exceeded expectations as a rookie and is coming off a season-best effort of nine receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown, but he’s been too inconsistent to count on as a starting fantasy tight end. The Bills did a good job of handling the Lions’ tight ends last week, even with Shaun Hill and his propensity for short-yardage throws at quarterback.
Michael Crabtree – WR – SF (vs. TB) – Crabtree has grabbed a touchdown pass in four of his last five games, but has also been held under five catches in each of his last four games. He can’t keep up that kind of end-zone efficiency. Aqib Talib figures to give him all he can handle this week.
Waiver Wire Pickups
Mario Manningham – WR – NYG – If for some reason Manningham is still available in your league, pick him up immediately. He’ll be a high-end WR2 for as long as Steve Smith (pectoral) is out, which could be until December.
Vincent Jackson – WR – SD – Just a reminder, Jackson is due back in Week 12. If he’s not already on your roster, make sure he’s not floating on the waiver wire. He’ll be a stud once he gets back on the field.
Louis Murphy – WR – OAK – Murphy was surely dropped in many leagues after coming down with multiple injuries over the past few weeks. He’s due back this week and should reclaim the Raiders’ #1 receiver role.
